PETER DE PAEPE

HEAD OF vRT SAndbox

Peter De Paepe is head of VRT Sandbox, the accelerator of VRT Innovation together with startups and scale-ups. With a heart for open-innovation, he sets up collaborations between startups and SME’s and VRT, to boost media innovation. He's also member of the investment team 'Media Invest Vlaanderen', a joint venture between VRT and PMV, investing in scale-ups in media in Brussels and Flanders.

Started as reporter, presenter and producer at Radio 2, he moved to one of the youth-channel of VRT, Studio Brussels. He presented programs and was final editor. Some time later, Peter became responsible for the DJ-team of MNM, and was responsible for the look and feel of MNM. He guided MNM through some rough sea and helped MNM grow to what is is today: one of the most popular youth-radio stations (focus 16-35y) with a wide divers audience. 

Always interested in the way new technologie can improve workflows, and can redefine the way we make content, he became head of VRT Sandbox.

TIM VAN LIER

EduTech Expert & Startup Coordinator

Tim Van Lier is UX researcher and EduTech expert at VRT Sandbox. He is fascinated by the interplay of users and technology, and its impact on society. Tim studied communication sciences in Brussels. He did qualitative user research at VUB-SMIT, and worked as a digital policy advisor for various digital products of VRT. At the moment, Tim is working as a UX researcher for the Digital Production Centre of the VRT and also aims to professionalise.

Trees De Bruyne

STARTUP PROJECT COORDINATOR

Trees De Bruyne has a long track record in various fields. That is why she calls herself a slasher. She was a stagemanager in theatre/TV producer/Head of post-production/ Head of digital games & apps/ Change Manager/ IT PM/ Business Developer/Gallery Owner/Startup coach/Digital marketing consultant/….If she has some spare time she works as a business consultant at Cultuurloket by supporting organizations in the cultural space to expand their business.
As a project coordinator at VRT Sandbox she can combine her technical skills and her entrepreneurial spirit to find the perfect match. New technology is great but you need a way to turn it into a real story that people understand.

Sandbox is the ideal playground to satisfy her creative analytic brain that is always craving for new knowledge.

Mathias teuwen

Scale up coordinator

As ScaleUp Coordinator at VRT Sandbox, Mathias bridges the gap between scaleup founders and corporate leads within VRT or in the VRT media ecosystem. He actively scouts the startup scene to find new technological and creative opportunities that fulfill the needs of the media creator or consumer.

Once a startup has entered the VRT corporate walls, Mathias coordinates the process from beginning to end. After a successful collaboration, he finds new ways to share the startup inspired innovation story with the outside world to keep the 'VRT Sandbox heartbeat' pumping.

With previous startup experiences at What's In the Box?, Cloud and FLAVR, Mathias is also not shy about an entrepreneurial adventure.

Alyssa Van Glabeke

project assistent

Alyssa recently joined our team. She graduated as a communications manager majoring in brand communication and brand storytelling.

Her interests now primarily include content and social media management. She already participated in several projects while studying in Ghent.

Now she is mainly interested in learning and cooperating in various innovating projects. As a marketing and communication consultant, being part of a challenging project is her greatest learning experience. She also enjoys connecting with new people to expand her knowledge and network.
