Sandbox Sessions 2020

A historical moment in time

Now, COVID-19 didn’t only shake up our lives. It made us aware of how being healthy is mankind’s greatest good. But, as an entrepreneur, this is and will be a moment in time during which you’ll need all of your skills to stay on top of things. Suddenly, lean and mean are not just fancy words, but a way to survive.

Talking to you, entrepreneurs, out there, inspired us to organize this event. We wanted to enable you to share ideas and stories and hopefully help you to get even smarter. By uniting you, we want to empower you to move on.

We will all remember this once-in-a-lifetime event for different reasons for quite a long time.

For Paul Bojarski from Sceenic, this might be because in the middle of this storm, he had to leave and help his wife give birth to a beautiful baby girl. But still, the show goes on. We respect that and we thank his team for helping us out and making this happen.

For Egon Verharen from NPO, who had to cancel one of the biggest events in the world, ‘The Eurovision Song Contest 2020’, yet still found the spirit to rethink and reorganise to keep the ball rolling.

For Jorre Belpaire from Kiswe Mobile, who decided to take a deep breath and take some risks, whilst serving their clients in the best way they can. If needed, just rebuild and adapt and make social watching a thing of today instead of it being a plan for tomorrow.

For Kasper Vancoppenolle from WinWinner, who was one of the first to start posting tips and tricks for all SMEs out there. In the meantime, being a start-up, they also had to review their own business model from scratch. But this only proves how customer-centric thinking pays off.

Of course, these are just a few stories. You all have yours and not all of them might have a happy ending… But it’s like pearls in an oyster. They only grow to cover an injury or to protect itself against parasites. Something good must come out of this. And we truly hope this event was a small step in the right direction.

All the tips and tricks from the event in short…

Recently, they started a second business unit ‘The Harbour’ to support their clients in finding investments via banks, crowds and PMV, but with a focus on VCs. In the meantime, they have more than a 100 VCs in their portfolio ready to go.

But due to the Coronavirus, their business model was under pressure. Discover how they shifted gear.
